Vivian L. Purvis, 103, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne. Born in New Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Ada (Carr) Rodgers. She married Harry Purvis Read Obituary
We have been privileged to know Vivian since we came to teach in East Allen in 1970. She was always there whenever we needed help.
Once we retired we then got to know her better as we took trips with Land Cruise.
The trips provided such fun, memories, and laughs. We know she will be watching over everyone on future trips, laughing with us.

I served as Deaconess at LLV So. Anthony for over 20 years and had the pleasure of knowing Vivian there. She was always so kind and gracious. A great lady, and a real lady, in the best sense of the word. The place won't be the same without her.

Vivian walked our Fort4Fitness event every year. She was featured in a lot of the advertising. So sad, but she lived a wonderful life. Goodnight Vivian.
Just this last fall Vivian was still participating in Fort4Fitness. Rest in peace Mrs. Purvis.
Vivian, at age 100, would still play the organ for Sunday services in the chapel. It was an honor to know her during my vicarage at LLV. May God comfort all who mourn. ‘Blessed are the mourners, for they shall be comforted.’

Vivian was an amazing lady and I feel so Blessed to have met and traveled with her on several Land Cruise tours. She will be missed.
We met Vivian on a two week trip to the Maritime Provinces and what a joy she was. We had many laughs along the way. Vivian and I also shared the same birth date of November 16! She will be so missed and I know she was loved by many.
What a blessing it was for us to know Vivian these past few years as we traveled together on Land Cruise trips. She was always the life of the party! She didn't know a stranger and made all of us feel like we were the most important person to her at the moment we were with her. Her smile was infectious and her wit was ever present! We will certainly miss traveling with her. We offer our deepest sympathy to you, her family, as you mourn her passing.

Vivian was an amazing woman. In 1967 I started my teaching career with EACS. She was always so helpful and kind and no one in the administrative offices knew the teachers and the issues like she did. We all loved her. About a year ago I was privileged to be eating lunch at Lutheran Life Villages with my sister in law. It was there I got to see Vivian again after so many years. What a sweet joy that was to go down memory lane with this wonderful lady one last time. God kept her busy for 103 years to be His hands and feet. May He comfort your family as you say good bye to your sweet mother and grandmother. She was one of a kind. I was blessed to know her.
