Verl Arthur Oberlin, 93, of New Haven died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne. Born on August 8, 1918 in Butler, he was the son of the late King and Lula Oberlin. He received degrees from Ball State Read Obituary
Verl was a very caring teacher, and a great sponsor of our high school class at
Butler, Ind. He came from a strong family and had been a real asset to the community. I am thankful to have been influenced by him. I remember him coming to the school in his uniform of WWII.

Mr. Oberlin was the best guidance counselor ever! He was always so sweet and compassionate. He gave great advice and I respected him immensely. May God give his family peace during this difficult time. RIP Mr. Oberlin :)

We have enjoyed being with Verl many times in the last 50 plus years. He was a vital part of our Sunday School class. He was so proud of his Christian heritage when he brought his Mom with him. When the Methodist Men had their Father-Son banquets each year, Verl would ask Bill to take one of his sons as Bill's sons were quite young at that time. What a Christian influence this man had on his school students and family.
Mr.Oberlin, spoke at my Graduation,in 1983,,he always had a smile on his face,whenever he greeted you in the hallway,,that's when we found out,he was retiring,those that was to be the last graduating class he would be speaking at,he said how proud,he was of us,and what we had accomplished,,there will be no one like Mr.Oberlin,there won't be another one with a sense of humor like his either,I will Miss him,He Was a Special Person,I am Honored to have known him,while I was at New Haven High School..

Condolences to your family. I graduated in 1952 and your father taught me to be a better person and the person I am today. I had a lot of respect and love for your father.
Mr. Oberlin was a great teacher at New Haven.

How well I remember Mr. Oberlin at New Haven High School. I too say that he surely was a favorite teacher of mine.
I will never forget working as a hospice nurse and being assigned to take care of Prue. From the very first visit I could see the total love and devotion Verl had for his wife. What an unselfish man he was. Even after he had heart surgery he was more worried about Prue than himself! My heart goes out to the Oberlin family in there loss of this noble, witty, great man.
