R.D. Kelly's Obituary
R.D. Kelly, 88, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in Savana, TN, he was the son of the late, George Kelly and Creasie Spear. He owned and operated Kelly Heating and Air, worked for the Allen County Sherriff's Dept. for 23 years. He was a member of St. Michael Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. A Life Member of the American Legion #241, VFW Ft. Wayne, Eagles Waynedale, Shriner's Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, and GWRRA. A member of the Quiet Birdmen of America and the EAA. R.D., also proudly served his country during WWII in the Army, 70th Division, in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
R.D. Kelly is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth; daughters, Joan Morin of Elkton, KY., and Judy (Bud) Bratten of Bradenton, FL., sisters, Dean Dove of Michigan City, and Clara (John) McGill of Albion; nine grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Calan Kelly, and brother, Robert Spear.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Preferred memorials to the 70th Division Association.
