To my dad. Thank you for teaching me to enjoy life, to care about family & friends,to find humor everywhere, to give freely,to be stubborn. Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories that I will charish forever. We had fun together. I'll miss you more than you would have imagined.
So many years have passed since I have seen you, but the memory that has and will survive is that wonderful smile that brightened every room you entered and every life you touched. You will be missed.

My husband, Mark, and I met R.D. at the St. James Restaurant in Avilla, IN, about a year ago. He was attending one of his Quiet Birdmen meetings and we were dining at the restaurant. R.D. was the kindest, sweetest, and one of the most interesting men we have ever met. Not only did he share my love of flying, he was/is also a quiet hero of WW2. Thank you R.D. for your service to our country and for taking the time to get to know my husband and me. You will be greatly missed by a grateful country, friends, and most of all your family.

HE was A GREAT guy who Would help anyone and he often helped me. I will truly miss him. My condolences to the family as we all will miss him.
Butch helped my mom & I on several occasions- he was a guy who'd help anyone anytime if he was at all able. He was quick to smile & tell a joke or story. He will be missed by all his friends at Arbor Glen.

Many years ago it was my good fortune to be employed as RD's instrument instructor at Fort Wayne. It quickly became apparent that this gentleman was teaching me a lot more than I taught him--and not just about flying. RD was truly one of a kind, and it is an honor to be counted among his friends.
