My Dad Eldon tells about going for his mail while in the Pacific only to fine mail for Ray. They were not stationed together, but he found Ray, who had been in a typhoon and lost most of his clothes. Dad shared his with his brother. Dad was shorter than Ray, they must have looked well you know. My husband Harlan and I send our condolences to Ray's children and their spouses.
Love you Dad, your grandchildren (Kevin, Neil, Jennesa) and greatest fans (Jum and myself) will always will always remember the bubbly calls and long discussions of college basketball, Cubs and Reds in baseball , and most of all spirited discussions on politics. Although we are many miles apart your warmth and compassion kept us close.
We will miss you.
I always was glad to see Ray when he came in for his haircut. He brought me the IU Alumni Basketball Book each fall with the stipulation that I get a big IU schedule for him. The last he got his haircut he asked if the ice cream next door was good and I encouraged him to go over and check it out. Then last week he stopped in with his son to give me a dish of ice cream from next door--very thoughtful and kind gesture that was so typical of him along with a little "needling". My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as he will be dearly missed.
It is difficult to lose such a very good brother in law and friend combination tho I am glad to know he is now in the arms of the Lord. Roy and Ray will now be together again.
My condolences to friends and family members and thanks for family keeping us informed.
Bonnie ( Mrs. Roy ) Moodie
