Maxine J. Van Horn's Obituary
Maxine J. Van Horn, 95, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare, New Haven. Born in New Haven on the family farm, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Bessie (Fortman) Wolf. As a young girl, she worked with her father at the Wolf Dairy delivering milk and doing other chores. She met Alfred Van Horn and they were married on February 9, 1942, who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. Maxine was a devoted wife and mother. She retired in 1984 from Do It Best Corp after 27 years. She was also a member of Happy Harmony Home Ec Club and volunteered at Parkview Hospital for over 20 years, where she worked in the gift shop and took baby pictures.
She is survived by her children, Paul Van Horn and Richard (Peggy) Van Horn both of Fort Wayne, David (Donna) Van Horn and John (Connie) Van Horn both of New Haven, Suzanne (John) Smith of Melborne, FL, and Janet (Joe) Long of Okeechobee, FL; brothers, Don (Ginny) Wolf and Ned Wolf both of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Wolf.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to New Haven United Methodist Church or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
