Our sympathy is with Aunt Marilyn's family.
I have a lot of great memories of my wonderful Aunt Marilyn. She took me in after my Mom (her sister) passed and let me stay with her family as often as I liked. She tried to make me eat green beans, and told me that if I didn't, I would never be able to get pregnant . She even called me several times when I lived in New Jersey with my husband and tried to push green beans on me. She was a great cook, but I always passed on green beans. I think she was one of the first persons I called when I was expecting my son. I had to rub it in that I still was able to get pregnant- beans or no beans.
She also made a great banana cake with whipped cream. She told me she named that cake after me---"Kookie Kake" -- since she always called me and knicked named me "Kookie Kandy."
She was always kidding around and had a great sense of humor. She could take you back with great stories of her young days and her car with a rumble seat. I think she shared more of those stories with my sisters Diane & Shirley. I always enjoyed her company. She was a young fun Aunt that was very very ornery. I have a lot of great memories to keep .
My deepest sympathy to Jane, Peggy, Bob, Denny and family. May she dance in Heaven and reunite with her family that went on before her. I love you Aunt Marilyn. Kookie Kandy
I have only the fondest memories of Aunt Marilyn, my favorite aunt. It was always difficult to see her as an aunt, perhaps because she was only 12 when I was born. It was not difficult seeing her as my favorite - she was the funniest, always kidding with me and telling me all those stories about her and those "Amish boys, Amos and Andy, she was dating! I didn't know whether to believe her or not. As far as I was concerned, she had the most positive, beautiful outlook on life. She would always warn me about "those girls". I was so happy for her when she met and married Gil, one of my favorite uncles. They were beautifully matched! My heart broke for both when they lost Gwyn, but there were four more who would share their love - Jane, Peggy, Bob, and Denny. I had a daughter who had a crush on Denny! Marilyn liked my kids as much as she did me and would have them stay over when they were very young. I know one thing, she is up in heaven with Gil and Gwyn, and I'll bet she is spinning those ornery tales for all to hear! With love, Marilyn,
Thom
