In my early 20's my missionary parents were far away in Japan. Don and Leora took me in like family. I would often spend Sunday afternoons at their home where Don would change the oil on my car, Leora would make me peanut butter ice cream, and both of them would be there for me encouraging me and praying for me. When I felt God calling me to be a missionary, they were some of the first people to join my support team and faithfully supported me (and later my husband too) and prayed for me for 37 years. I will miss Leora! I send my sincere condolences to Kerry, Rick, Cyndi and your families!

I so enjoyed spending time with Leora,.she was such a sweet lady to be with,I and 2 other friends just went out to see her last week and take her to lunch. I am so glad I got to spend time with her in her last days.She will sure be missed at church.She is heaven with Don now and happy Love Bernie Brown

I regularly teased Leora about always moving her furniture. I attended bible studies with her and told her I wanted to be like her when I grew up.

My parents and I attended Yoder Missionary Church in the 1950's and I have fond memories of Don and Leora. They were great Christian examples. Leora was a beautiful lady. I was so sorry to see that she has passed away. I'm sure your memories will be a comfort as you will miss her. You are in my prayers.

I am so saddened to hear of Leora's passing. I had been doing her hair for about 2 years and I adored her. I wish we had met up earlier in life. She loved her family and I loved hearing about her life. I felt so honored when she was comfortable enough to open up to me. even when she didn't feel well, she would always share with me. I would tell her, don't keep that a secret Leora, you need to tell your family. She would say, "It isn't a secret anymore, I just told you." She always made me smile with her direct and straight to the point attitude. Every week when she would come in, I would have her favorite french vanilla cappuccino ready for her. It was always the same thing, "You are so sweet, you didn't have to do that." As she would sip on it and say how good it tasted to her. Even when she had to move, she told me she would find a way to get to me. I was so honored to know her and will forever hold fond memories of her in my heart. My prayers go out to the family, I know much much I will miss her, my heart goes out to all of you. RIP Leora, you will be so missed.
