I met and became friends with all of the Steimman family after they moved from Arlington, Ohio to Garrett, Indiana. Like nearly everybody else I knew I pretty much lost track of Lavern after high school. I organized an old friends reunion in Garrett in 2009 at which Lavern, Eddie, and Dean showed up. The last time I saw Lavern was at the memorial service for Eddie. I had no idea he had moved back to Indiana just before he died. He was just a few miles from me. I would have loved to visit him if I had only known. Lavern once moved a full size couch into his second floor apartment. He did it all by himself which amazed me. Lavern was always rather conservative. When the rest of us teenagers had high performance cars he had a low powered Corvair.
