L. M. Bud Poyser's Obituary
L. M. "Bud" Poyser, Jr., 67, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Born in Wolf Lake, he served his country in Vietnam for the US Navy on the USS Joseph Strauss. He owned and operated Halter Sales, Inc. in New Haven and retired in 2010 from ITT after 26 years. He was actively involved in "legal" drag racing since 1992. He formed Poyser Racing with his sons, and raced Alcohol Funny Cars under the sanctioning bodies UDRA, IHRA, and NHRA.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Barbara; sons, Mark (Shanon) Poyser and Rick (Liz) Poyser both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Riley, Madison, Ethan, and Brianna; mother, Josephine Halter of Fort Wayne; and siblings, Jerry (Patty) Poyser of Angola and Sharron (Jim) Spangle of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Mac Poyser, Sr.; and brothers, Wayne Poyser and Del Halter.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., Thursday., February 21, 2013 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Chaplain Patricia Edwards-Holbert officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial is in the Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne with Navy Funeral Honors. Preferred memorials are to donor's choice.
