Some of my favorite memories from my childhood include Nana. I loved early morning breakfasts with cinnamon toast or her delicious egg sandwiches. I loved watching movies together eating peppermint ice cream. There many silly stories that I could tell about our drives to Camp Awana.
I think the sweetest memory I have of Nana is from over 10 years ago. I opened my birthday package from Nana, and inside was a mason jar full of random buttons. I thought it was a cute but odd gift and had no idea what it meant (maybe Nana was going through things and thought I would like it). When I called Nana and talked to her, she shared that she sent me the jar of buttons because when I was very little and living with Nana and Bop for a time, I had a button collection that started after my 2nd grade teacher gave me some old buttons. Nana had accidentally gotten rid of the buttons and had felt terrible about it. So she spent time to collect new buttons for me, in many colors, shapes, and styles. Then sent me a new button collection so she wouldn't have to feel bad for throwing them out so many years ago. To this day, it is the sweetest and most thoughtful gift I have ever received. Nana had a kind and giving heart and she loved all of us completely.
