Herman "Tom" Thompson's Obituary
Herman "Tom" Thompson, 93, of New Haven, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in Tyro, Arkansas he was the son of the late Robert and Ida Thompson. The WWII veteran served his country in the US Coast Guard and was a member of local Teamsters #414. He retired in 1981 from Fruehauf Corp.
Herman is survived by his wife of 22 years, Eileen Thompson; children, Thomas Young and Mary Noll both of Florida, and Jean Byers of California; step-children, Stephen Ellis of Parker City, Lynne Oberley of Fort Wayne, and Karen Schumm of Edgerton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother; and one sister.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Pastor Dick Schultz officiating. Calling is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Arthritis Foundation.
