Griffin "Griff" Kay Steiner's Obituary
Griffin "Griff" K. Steiner, 83, of New Haven, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice, Fort Wayne. Born in Portland, he was the son of the late Russell and Iva (Miller) Steiner. He retired from Metallurgical Processing Inc after 30 years and later owned Steiner Mowing with his wife of 63 years, Dorothea (Jamison), who survives. A lifelong sports fan, he was a booster and season ticket holder of IU Basketball, an avid Boston Red Socks fan and coached women's slow pitch softball for 25 years. He was also a New Haven Hall of Fame Member and "unofficial official" statistician of many Bulldog athletic teams for over 40 years, right up to this past season. He loved spending time at the lake and never missed one of his grandchildren's events, where he was often found keeping the score book as well.
He is also survived by his children, Kimberly (Corey) Sheehan of Monroeville and Russell Steiner of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Nicholas (Lauren), Conner (Erika) and Abby Sheehan; and one great grandchild on the way. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Lantz.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the New Haven High School Athletic Department.
