Donald M. "Don" Cheviron's Obituary
Donald M. "Don" Cheviron, 86, of New Haven, died November 1, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare, New Haven surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Harold and Irene Cheviron. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, New Haven. Don was a World War II Navy veteran and retired in 1992 from East Allen County Schools after 23 years. He volunteered at St. Andrew's Soup Kitchen, and Brighton Hall after he retired. For many years he was a dedicated blood donor for the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his sons, David (Tammy) Cheviron, Jim Cheviron, Bob (Tami) Cheviron, Don Cheviron, Stan "Butch" (Julie) Cheviron, and Tom (Tammy) Cheviron; daughter, Ellen (Kelly) Shafer; sister, Susan Pappenfuss of New Haven; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Clementine in 2010; and brothers, Ted, Jerry, Steve, Michael, and Ed.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Calling is also 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a vigil service at 5 p.m. Burial is in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven or St. John's Catholic School.
