David Elmer Lawson's Obituary
David Elmer Lawson, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest, Decatur. Born in Richmond, he was the son of late Elmer and Juanita (Mikesell) Lawson. He retired in 2006 from Vee Engineering after 24 years. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Midwest Tool Collectors Association, the Hoagland Area Advancement Association, and was an honorary alumnus of the University of Saint Francis. He was also an avid IU and Indianapolis Colt fan who enjoyed fishing, woodworking, reading, hiking, and collecting antique tools.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Doris; children, Doug (Vera) Lawson of Euless, Tex, Dana (Jack) Rochyby of Hoagland, D. Katie (Lawrence) Wiedman of Hanover, Mich., Danelle (Brian) Witte of Lima, Ohio, and David Timothy Lawson of Woodburn; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Orville and Joseph Lawson, Lois Chriss, Debbie Conwell, and Eileen Niccoleta.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
