Darwin "Pete" Zehr's Obituary
Darwin "Pete" Eugene Zehr, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021 at his home. Born October 8, 1942 east of New Haven, IN, he was the third child of the late Lester "Doc" and Inez (Null) Zehr. On December 28, 1963 he married the love of his life, Diane Marie (Coonrod), who survives. They loved each other deeply and were each other's steadfast companions and best friends for their 57 plus years together. He devoted his life to his family and caring for and helping others. He adored his daughters, Connie Marie Zehr and Susan Marie (Zehr) Hille. He had a very special relationship with his twin granddaughters, Amanda Marie Hille and Christi Marie Hille, treasuring the four of them dearly, all survive. His extended family, friends, and neighbors also brought him great joy and happiness. His pastimes included keeping his yard in pristine fashion, baking and cooking, and watching the birds. He was also famous for his wine making, especially his dandelion wine. He belongs to the Allen County Genealogical Society. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Bonnie Marie Zehr and siblings, Lester Zehr, Jr and Betty E. (Zehr) Herberger. He will be sorely missed by his family and all those who loved him. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior. Masks and social distancing are required.
