Darwin C. Markley's Obituary
Darwin C. Markley, 90, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born on February 13, 1931 in Wells County, he was the son of the late Clive and Dorothy (Roof) Markley. He graduated from Liberty Center High School and received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Ball State University. He served his country in the US Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church. With an extensive career in education, he was an elementary school teacher at East Allen County Schools for five years, principal at Village Elementary School for nine years, and principal at Highland Terrace School for 21 years. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Julie) Markley and Jeff Markley both of Fort Wayne, Todd (Tracy) Markley of Carmel, brothers, David (Kathy) Markley of Fort Wayne and Jerome (Jill) Markley of Liberty Center; and grandchildren, Ellen (Preston) Patillo, Blake, Laura, Evan (Michaela), Adam, and Carly Markley. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janet in 2018; and siblings, Keith Markley, Norma Jean Greene, and Willadene Poulson. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven.
