Darrel "Rudy" Rudolph's Obituary
Darrel L. “Rudy” Rudolph, 82, of Fort Wayne, formerly of New Haven, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Donald and Virginia (Weaver) Rudolph. He retired in 1991 from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He served with the MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group), and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). Locally he served with the 122nd Air National Guard. He was a past member of Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven. Rudy was very involved in Little League Baseball, District 10, and was past president of the East Suburban League. He enjoyed being a Harley Davidson enthusiast, hunting, and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Gromeaux) Rudolph; daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Foreman; daughter-in-law, Heidi Rudolph (wife of the late Jody Rudolph); siblings, Nick (Diana) Rudolph, Dennis Rudolph, Donna (Ralph) Vining, and Rock (Tammy) Rudolph; grandchildren, Cassidy Schneider, Cody Schneider, Khloee Rudolph, and Khale Rudolph. He was also preceded in death by his children, Jody Rudolph and Hope Rudolph; brother, Ernie Rudolph. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Wounded Warrior Project or Humane Fort Wayne.
