Carol Bordner's Obituary
CAROL BORDNER, of Leo, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Born May 18, 1941, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late John and Leona (Roberts) Longardner. She was a homemaker and also worked in the insurance industry until 1985. She was a member of Harlan United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. She grew up on a farm in New Haven with her four brothers who all preceded her in death. She also had a sister, who died during childhood. She was diagnosed with cancer 12 years ago, but never bemoaned her fate or complained. She had a strong and loving spirit. She enjoyed fussing over her grandchildren, caring for her husband, cooking, sewing and gardening.
Carol is survived by her husband, James (Jim) E. Bordner Sr., of Leo; daughters, Laura (Kim) Stilwell of Costa Rica and Melinda (Steve) Johns of Carmel; son, Richard (Margie) Ritter of Fishers; stepsons, James (Lisa) E. Bordner Jr., of Fort Wayne and Greg Bordner of Cottondale, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Harlan United Methodist Church, 16434 Indiana 37, Harlan, Ind., 46743. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, 6316 Mutual Dr., Ft. Wayne, IN 46825.
