Bernard "Barney" Lewis' Obituary
Bernard "Barney" Lewis, 86, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully Sunday, August 25, 2013 at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late David and Annie Lewis. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and hosted House Church for ten years. He served his country in the US Navy and retired in 1989 as a Communications Technician with GTE after 42 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Fran; sons, Scott (Kathy) Lewis of Columbia City and Matt (Belinda) Lewis of Fort Wayne; and siblings, Douglas Lewis of Minnesota and Hazel Hunsche of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Olive Lewis.
A Celebration of Barney's life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Donna Goings and Chaplain Don Talbert officiating. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control, or Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries.
