Agnes Marie McKay Burkhart's Obituary
Agnes Marie McKay Burkhart, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne. Born in Corunna, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Gertrude (Amman) Richter. She grew up in Chesaning, Michigan and was the valedictorian of the Our Lady of Good Hope High School at the young age of 16. She retired in 1984 from Stedman Studios after 20 years. She could often be found knitting or crocheting and had several of her patterns published. She also loved needlework, gardening, canning, beekeeping, and raising pheasants and turkeys.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (Steve) Noll and Gary (Kimberly) McKay both of Fort Wayne, Susan (Bennie) Braswell of Gaffney, SC, and Danny (Kris) McKay of Woodburn; step-daughter, Karen (Keith) Widmann of Lehigh Acres, FL; brother, Peter Richter of Chesaning, MI; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by husband, Donald McKay in 1982 and Alban Burkhart in 2003; and step-children, Scharen Shelton and Donald Paul.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Calling is also 5 to 8 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s choice.
