William "Bill" I. Fanning's Obituary
William “Bill” I. Fanning, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Strother) Fanning. He was a 1957 graduate of New Haven High School. He retired with over 50 years in the trucking industry, working for both Transport Motor Express and Conway Central Express. He was also a member of the American Historical Trucking Society. Bill was a longtime member of the Indiana Freemasons, Fort Wayne and Mizpah Shriners, Fort Wayne. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and loved to “putz” outdoors. He also loved his lake cottage and lake friends on Williams Lake and was a collector of Winross collectible trucks.
He is survived by his beloved Kathie; his children, Heather (Greg) Jeffries and Gregg (Kathy) Fanning both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Alexander (Angela) Fanning, Abby Fanning, and Alyssa (Kris) King; and great grandson, Maximilian Fanning. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith in 2000; and siblings, Jack Fanning and Carole Hensel.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Lane Burgland officiating. Visitation is also 1 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Donor’s Choice.
