Wilbur "Wil" Hyde Jr.'s Obituary
Wilbur “Wil” Hyde, Jr., 91, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at home. Born in Duluth MN, he was the son of the late Wilbur Sr. and Ethel (Spafford) Hyde. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church. Wil retired from International Harvester/Navistar after 25 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed being active in the community serving as president of Meadowbrook Community Assoc., and volunteering with Project Read. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #740, New Haven and was a Past District Governor with Toastmaster’s International.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Emily; children: Joseph (Rita) Hyde, Julianne Hyde, and James (Carrie) Hyde all of Fort Wayne; brother: William Hyde of Duluth, MN; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Wil was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hyde.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 At Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Burial in IOOF Cemetery New Haven with military honors. Memorials may be made to Allen County SPCA, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
