Walter E. Schroeder's Obituary
Walter E. "Gator" Schroeder, 85, of New Haven, IN passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the only child of the late Ewald and Lula (Redmon) Schroeder. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jerry Ann Arnett in 2007. He is survived by his children Joe (Donna) Harding of Albion, Justin (Rebecca) Harding of Fort Wayne, and Karen (Jim) Gall of Monroeville, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He attended Central High school of Fort Wayne and served his country in the US Army. He worked for International Harvester, Bell telephone, and Norfolk Southern. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, Navy Club Ship 245, and Howard Bandelier Veterans of Foreign War Post 2457. He was an avid fan of NASCAR either watching or attending races, he enjoyed building things with his hands like wooden models and 3D Puzzle's.
Memorial service 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023, with visitation two hours prior (3:30 to 5:30pm) at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Preferred memorials to Howard Bandelier VFW Post 2457. For online condolences please visit www.harperfuneralhome.com
