Thurman F. "Bud" Hockemeyer's Obituary
Thurman F. "Bud" Hockemeyer, 96, of New Haven, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Adams Heritage, Monroeville. Born in Madison Twp, Allen County, he was the son of the late Martin and Edna (Meyer) Hockemeyer. A man of strong faith, he was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. He retired in 1983 from Navistar after 27 years and was a member of Local 57 UAW. After retirement he went on to work for many years at New Haven Lumber and read meters for the City of New Haven. He volunteered at the New Haven Food Bank, and he found joy in the simple things - time spent outdoors, gardening, and woodworking, but especially spending time with his family. He treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Shirley; children, Rex (Deborah) Hockemeyer, Kerry (Michele) Hockemeyer, James (Shelly) Hockemeyer, Jill (Jack) Cain, and Jan Hockemeyer; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his infant grandson, Joseph Hockemeyer; infant brother, Kenneth Hockemeyer; and sister, Evelyn Andrews.
Funeral service is 1 pm Friday, June 12, 2026, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior (11 to 1).
