Thomas Woodrow "Tom" Hursh's Obituary
Thomas Woodrow "Tom" Hursh, 76, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Florida. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Opal (Likens) Hursh. Tom graduated from Leo High School and Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin. He then served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and went on to earn his master's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. He was a past member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Spencerville and was a member of Jack Brinker American Legion Post 409, Leo. He was a manager at Kroger's for over 20 years and enjoyed reading, plants, the time spent with family and friends and he rarely missed a daily walk.
He is survived by his siblings, Linda Mohr and Jeff (Christine) Hursh; and nieces and nephews, Dan (Heather), Nick (Lauren), Brittany, and Jake Hursh. He was also preceded in death by his nieces, Crista and Tina Mohr.
Graveside service is 11 am Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Leo Cemetery, 14600 Leo Rd, Leo with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment with military honors to follow. Preferred memorials are to St. James Lutheran Church Food Pantry, New Haven. Arrangements by Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven.
