Thomas William Essig's Obituary
Thomas W. “Tom” Essig, 71, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Chicago IL., he was the son of the late Erhardt and Viola (Waldschmidt) Essig. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. He was an electrical engineer at United Technologies – Carrier Division, Huntington for over 20 years until 2002. He authored several patents during his employment. Tom enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, tutoring children in math, and designing and experimenting with anything electrical. Above all he loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Christina (Winicker) Essig; daughters, Laura (Michael) Dauscher of New Haven and Rachel (Brad) Botts of Warsaw; brother, James (Dianne) Essig of Winter Garden, FL., and nephew, Jordan Essig.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St, New Haven with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Scott Zeckzer officiating. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 State Road 930 East, New Haven. Inurnment at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
