Susan Kay Lengacher's Obituary
Susan Kay Lengacher, 71, went on her final mission trip to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Virginia (Cunningham) Ehle. Susan had the privilege of serving on several mission trips, including Cuba, New Mexico, Serbia, Ecuador, New Orleans, and Navajo Reservation. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Gar Creek, New Haven and loved her volunteer work at Central Lutheran School. She retired from Parkview Hospital after 30 years. The 16-year lung cancer survivor was an active member of the medical response team and volunteered at Matthew 25 for 37 years. She was also an active member in the New Haven Alumi Band. She loved playing softball, being barefoot outside and most of all, soaking up God’s beautiful sun. She was the most loving and caring person to be around. She has touched many lives, and all of them know her as “Grandma Sue”.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William; daughter, Lisa (Shawn) Babb of New Haven; sister, Dorothy (Jerry) Koch of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Brittni (Nick) Krauter, Jaime (Dan) Moeloa, Caitlin (Tim) Zuber, and Kyler Bayes; and great grandchildren, Ryker, Ellce, and Knoxton Krauter, Lawren Zuber, and baby girl Moeloa. She was also preceded in death by her son, Chad Wilt; and sister, Nancy Ehle.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Gar Creek, 1910 N. Berthaud Rd. New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Michael Blodgett officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New. Haven. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Matthew 25, the church, or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
