Steven P. "Zute" Grote's Obituary
Steven P. “Zute” Grote, 65, was welcomed home by the Lord, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne on June 2, 1951 he was the son of Paul Grote, who preceded him in death and Beverly (Barnes) Grote who survives. He was an amazing bass player and loved music. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church serving in their praise, and assisting at Lewis King Ministry.
He is also survived by his loving wife Sophie, who he was with for 46 years; step-sons, Dominic (Deanna) Mashburn of Orlando, FL and Scott (Tammie) Mashburn of Fort Wayne; siblings, David (Joni) of Fort Wayne, Fritz (Doris) of New Haven, and Gretchen Kelley of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Rev. Mark Neubacher officiating. Calling is also 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the funeral home. A celebration of his savior Jesus and the life of Steve Grote will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave, Fort Wayne. Entombment will be in Concordia Garden Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
