Shirley Fay Herber's Obituary
Shirley Fay Herber, 82, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Gwendolyn (Keener) Brewster. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She retired in 1970 after a career of accounting and clerical work. Shirley was a very loving wife to her late husband Eugene Herber of 52 years and an excellent homemaker. She was full of wisdom and laughter, cherished by her many, many, nieces and nephews. She loved going to garage sales with her sister and visiting with her friends especially her full time caregiver Barbara Helire.
She is survived by her siblings, June Diehm of Pleasant Lake, and Ora Brewster; brother in laws, Leonard Herber of Fort Wayne, and Fr. Alvin Herber C.PP. S. of Carthagena, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Father Mark Enemali officiating. Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a vigil at 6:30 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorial are to masses, St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, and Visiting Nurses Hospice.
