Ruth Schlegel's Obituary
Ruth Schlegel, 91, of New Haven died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Genesis HealthCare, New Haven. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lisette Rohman. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne and the ladies guild. She was the bookkeeper for Indiana District Lutheran Church office for 22 years and the secretary for Lake James Lutheran Chapel for over 20 years.
She is survived by her sons, Frederick (Bonnie) Schlegel of Angola and Dennis (Joyce) Schlegel of New Haven; and grandchildren, Kelly Schlegel, Kari (Errol) Brown, Clint (Stacey) Schlegel, Aaron Schlegel, Angela Schlegel, and Brian (Brit) Meredith; and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Ervin in 2010; and sister, Norma Merkle.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Rev. Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Lake James Lutheran Chapel.
