Roy M. Elwood's Obituary
Roy M. Elwood, 85, of Decatur, Tenn., formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday January 26, 2018 at home. Born in Indianapolis on April 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Cyril and Wretha (Murray) Elwood. He married Donna J. Graeber on September 14, 1949, who preceded him in death in 2013. During his 40-year career, he managed multiple television sales and repair businesses and in 1974 opened Elwood’s Television and Appliance. After his retirement in 1988 he traveled and fished. In 2015 he purchased Mr. Twister Restaurant in Ten Mile, Tenn., which is still in operation today.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Stephen) Schwarz of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Janet Elwood of North Webster; brother, Larry (Mary) Elwood of New Haven; grandchildren, Ben (Kami) Elwood, Matt (Teala) Elwood, William (Stephanie) Schwarz, and Tania Schwarz. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Elwood; siblings, James Richard “Dick” Elwood, Ronald Elwood, Betty J. “Susie” Sexton, and Lois “Annie” Swartz; and granddaughter, Stacey Schwarz.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to Shepherd’s House, Fort Wayne.
