Ross L. Ehle's Obituary
Ross L. Ehle, 88, died on October 2, 2012 at his home. Born March 6th, 1924 on the family farm in Milan Township, he was the son of the late Edward and Lola Ehle. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1942. A lifelong Allen County farmer, he also worked for Brueggeman Lumber for over 30 years and was a bus driver for East Allen County Schools. He was a 57 year member of the Harlan Lions Club. He worked on the Lions Youth Exchange program and initiated the International Adult Lions Exchange program in 1989. Ross was "dad" to hundreds of foreign exchange students hosted in his home for over 30 years. He lived by the Lions Motto: We Serve. Ross loved his family, hunting, fishing, farming, his garden and traveling the world to visit his International children. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven where he served as usher.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Patricia (nee. Couture); daughters, Nancy (Carl) Louraine of Fort Wayne, Susan Shaheen of Longmont, Colorado, and LeAnn (Steve) Cooper of Frederick, Colorado; sons, Steve (Sherry) Ehle of Winter Garden, Florida, Gerry (Darlene) Ehle and Michael Ehle both of New Haven, James (Sandi) Ehle of Lantana, Florida, and Dennis Ehle of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brother, Don Ehle of New Haven. Preceding him in death were infant daughter, Theresa; grandsons, Dan Cloud, Jason Duey, and Justin Duey; brothers, Mervin and Ralph Ehle; and sister, Mildred Klopfenstein.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling is also 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a Lions Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Calling continues on Sunday, October 7th from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Burial in St. John the Baptist cemetery. Preferred memorials for Masses, the Harlan Lions Club and Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities.
