Family Memories of Our Dearly Departed Mom, Grandma & Oma Family Memories of Rosemary Davis collected November 23-26 from several family members:
Loving & Loveable Mother, Grandmother, Oma & Friend
• We heard from her very good friend Beverly that everyone loved Rosemary, and we witnessed that for ourselves here at St. Anne’s.
• She was the kindest, sweetest lady I've ever known.
• She taught me to love unconditionally, to never stop praying, and to show kindness always.
• She was one of the most kind, faithful, and sweet souls you’d ever meet. She loved her family with all her heart.
• On her 75th birthday cruise to Alaska, she wanted to stay in the same family cabin with her grandchildren ... and she loved it! It takes a special person to want to do this! :)
• She had an infectious smile that always welcomed you.
• Her generosity ... not just financially, but also of the time she took to listen.
• She had such a beautiful smile. You could always tell she loved her life. I’m so happy I had so many years with her and got to learn how to be such a strong woman.
• She taught her children fairness for all of God’s creation, including people of different races, cultures and creeds.
• Family meant everything to her. She always enjoyed having her family around ... even if "around" meant on her digital photo frame or on FaceTime.
• As a child, I cheered on the cowboys in westerns, and she taught me not to disparage the Native Americans, suggesting (misleadingly) that she was a native.
• She was resilient - life wasn't always easy, but she faced life's curve balls with strength, compassion, a smile ... and yes, tears too.
• She helped manage our family growing up living paycheck to paycheck, and she worked with dad to economize everything she could.
• She was a devoted wife and mother who patiently saw past all her family’s individual failings.
• She’s the one who gave me my sense of humor and taught me how to take a joke, how to laugh freely, and how to find light even in difficult moments like this.
• I’ll always be grateful for the love she showed my family, and for the way she made each of us feel seen and cared for.
• She taught me the importance of family and what it means to build a lasting legacy across generations.
• Some of my best memories are Christmases in Fort Wayne, getting coney dogs together, seeing the lights, and sharing so much laughter with family.
• I’ll never forget the time spent at her home and the unforgettable cruise she took us on to Alaska. Those moments remind me of how deeply she valued connection, joy, and simply being together.
• She made wonderful holiday treats, like the yule log roll and cherry yeast slices.
• She took great care to create hand-crafted gifts to commemorate our special life celebrations.
• Her love of animals, especially dogs and birds, was profound.
• Growing up, I enjoyed spending quiet time with her in the morning reading the newspaper before my siblings got out of bed. It was special bonding time for us.
• During the pandemic, we enjoyed weekly facetime with her on Sundays, and it was always a delight to see her smile.
A Humble Christian of Faith
• She embraced and lived her faith through her strong community of friends and her weekly rosary prayer group.
• When I think of her, the first thing that comes to mind is her faith. She was the foundation of faith in our family, the one who planted that seed and lived it out with quiet strength and grace.
• She taught me what it means to truly love your spouse and how to entrust your children to Jesus.
• She showed all her children the face of Jesus through her actions as a mother—not to lie, cheat, steal or harm others.
• She relished the story of the prodigal son which she taught in 2nd grade CCD for 13 years. Every time she told the story, she teared up. Keeping the family together was of the most importance to her.
• She was faithful, forgiving, incredibly strong, and pure-hearted. She had a quiet way of praying us through the hard times, always believing in God’s goodness no matter what came her way.
• Though I’m deeply hurt that she’s gone, I’m filled with gratitude for the countless ways she shaped who I am. Her love, her laughter, her prayers, and her faith are her lasting gifts to our family, and they will stay with me always.
• I am so happy she was able to join the King of Kings on the feast of Christ the King.
