Ronald D. Meekin's Obituary
Ronald D. "Ron" Meekin, 72, of New Haven, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at home. Born in Huntington, he was the son of the late Virgil and Anna Mae (Chaney) Meekin. He was also the grandson of Clarence and Ruth Hiles, who raised him as a child. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church-Gar Creek, New Haven. He proudly served his country in the 122nd Air Force, Fort Wayne for 24 years. He served during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, and the American Legion while in North Carolina. He enjoyed woodworking and hot air ballooning. Ron especially enjoyed spoiling his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean (Kunberger) Meekin; daughter, Clarissa (Brock) Scheumann; 2 sons; brother, Rex (Rebecca) Meekin; granddaughters, Savannah and Paige Scheumann. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Meekin.
Memorial service is 3 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 E. St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior (1 to 3pm) with military honors.
