Ronald Gene Elwood's Obituary
Ronald Gene Elwood, 87, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Cyril and Wreatha (Murray) Elwood. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an independent insurance agent and certified property casualty underwriter (CPCU) for 45 years. He was also owner and operator of Elwood Insurance, New Haven before retiring in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fran; sons, Ron (Stacey) Elwood of New Haven and Gary (Dawn) Elwood of Swansea, IL; brothers, Roy Elwood of Tennessee and Larry (Mary) Elwood of New Haven; and grandchildren, Ryan, Erica, Brad, Kyle, Spencer, and Shae. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Elwood, Betty Sexton, and Lois Swartz.
Funeral service is 12 p.m., Saturday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hour prior. Chaplain Chris McPherson officiating. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice.
