Robert G. “Bob” Messmann, 98, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Adams Heritage, Monroeville. Born in Woodburn, he was the son of the late Emil and Artie (Kerns) Messmann. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Soest) Read Obituary

Bob, along with his brother Bill, was my sponsor when I was baptized as a baby. I didn’t get to know Bill as he didn’t make it home from the war, but I have wonderful memories of Bob and his brother Shorty playing softball when I was a kid. I think that’s where I got my love for playing baseball. They seemed to have such wonderful fun. I was blessed to share many summers with Bob, building houses with my dad. To my mind, Dad and Bob were the best in the trade. I learned everything from them. Bob brought Greg, Grant, and Gary when they were old enough, and we had 5 of the family working together. Many great memories of those days. Bob was such a wonderful role model as a sponsor, husband, and father. Love ❤️ to all the family members as we celebrate his life.
My sympathies to the family. Bob seemed to me to be the “energizer bunny” as he helped put in my kitchen cabinets in his 80’s. Praying the Lord gives comfort to you all.

I loved talking to Bob when I worked at LLV . He was always so nice and sweet . He always had a smile ! May out Lord give you comfort durning this time .
Bob was a great friend to Dad and Mom. After Alice died, Mom invited "the guys" over for dinner and cards every week. He and Dad were great Carpenter's Helpers. Our families shared many fun times together, growing up (with about as many kids, matching each others' ages). A very nice man with a great laugh! A love and fun man to play eucher with, could snap a card down like no other! He’s now rekindled with all of his siblings and parents and the love of his life, Aunt Alice! Prayers to Greg, Gary, Gina and their families! ❤️
We all loved Uncle Bob. He had the best laugh and the most loving energy. My sympathy to you the family. You will have many and great memories. We will always remember Uncle Bob with love.
