I was saddened to hear the news of your mom's passing. I enjoyed being her nextdoor neighbor and walking partner for years. She was always ready to go and I could tell by the sparkle in her eye if she had some news to share with me. Bobbie, Olga and I had several adventures whether it was attending weddings, rescuing birds or herding cats, I will always remember her as young at heart. We are truly sorry for your loss,

Sorry to hear about the passing of my cousin Roberta, who I always knew as Bobbie Ann as we were growing up. I moved to California in 1962 when I graduated from Tri-State College (now Trine University) in Angola and have been here ever since.
Therefore, we did not get to visit often over the years but kept in contact by Christmas cards and a few times when I was back to Ft. Wayne on vacation visits. She and her brother Larry were at an open house we had at my cousin Mary Jo Purvis's home a number of years ago. My cousin Mary Jo Purvis was Robert's New Haven high school French teacher. A small world isn't it.
I also got visit with Bobbie Ann when her dad, my uncle Bob, was at St. Anne's. Mary Jo's mother Dolores Purvis was also lived there at the same time so we all had lunch together there. That was the last personal visit I had with Bobbie Ann.
I was sad to get the call from Robert last fall when we on vacation that Bobbie Ann was at St. Anne's and told me of her condition. And now my cousin Mary Jo Purvis called to tell me the news of her passing, May she rest in peace

So many wonderful memories growing up across the street from you! My mom was so sad this morning when she saw that Roberta was gone. They were such good friends over the years. She sure loved her kitties and all animals! Prayers and hugs to you all.
I've known Roberta since 7th grade, and she's always been a true friend through all these years. We shared many ornery moments in high school at Bishop Luers, where it became our mission to outwit the nuns and priests. One time I actually took my girdle (an ancient article that held up your nylons) off in Fr. Fulgence's religion class. Well, it was so bloody boring! Roberta almost fell out of her desk laughing. Half of the room was giggling in awe. The saintly priest never had a clue.
We were innocent and naive, never considered smoking or drinking, and believed and practiced all the religious ideals we learned.
The night she met Bob she lost her heart forever, and remained loyal and devoted to him the rest of her life. She meant the vows she took and never wavered.
It was a bittersweet mercy that she was unaware of his passing, as it would have devastated her and brought her such profound grief.
Always fiercely proud of her boys, she gladly involved herself in their interests. They became bright, talented, successful adults.
She worked for years at the family sausage wagon for Three Rivers Festival and maintained the rental cabins at Lake Wawasee. It was not easy work, as her boys will remember.
I cherish the part she played in my life all these years and I will not forget my dear, precious friend.
