Rita Marie Obergfell's Obituary
Rita Marie (Malott) Obergfell, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at home with her family by her side. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn (Mowry) Bodkin. She retired as the CEO of Financial Partners Federal Credit Union. She was a member of the Howard Bandelier VFW Post 2457 Auxiliary, East Central Fire and EMS Auxiliary, and the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association. She also enjoyed golfing, hiking at Turkey Run State Park, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Jim; children, Garry (Amy) Malott and Brandi Malott; stepdaughter, Jill Nurris; siblings, Larry (Pam) Bodkin, Jan (Lee) Owens, and Evelyn (Dave) Foust; sister-in-law, Renee Bodkin; and grandchildren, Miranda (Hunter) Holsten, Gage Malott, and Malachi Schaffer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garry Malott Sr in 2004; and siblings, Steven and Delores Bodkin.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, Indiana with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
