Rick Edward Shanayda's Obituary
Rick Edward Shanayda, 60, passed away, February 14, 2018 at Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Utica, NY he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He enjoyed golf, fishing, travel, camping, astronomy and music. He was also an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and IU Basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rhonda; children, Kurt (Cody) Shanayda of Muncie, Todd and Kyle Shanayda, Aimee (Garth) Fiedler all of Woodburn, Brian Shanayda of Columbia City, Eric (Erin) Shanayda of Carmel, and Kellee (Nathan) Henderson of Kendallville; mother, Corinne Shanayda of Muncie; siblings, Paul (Lisa) Shanayda of Muncie, Debra (Martin) Ragsdale of Novato, CA, and twin, Cathleen Shanayda of Richfield, MN; and eight grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his father, Edward Shanayda.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a vigil at 3:45 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Masses or the church.
