Richard Allen Hartmann's Obituary
Richard Allen “Rich” Hartmann, 72, of New Haven, was received into the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Arnold and Mildred (Griebel) Hartmann. Richard was a born farmer. He loved working outdoors. Shortly upon graduation, he began his farming business with his brother, David. Farming for over fifty years, he lived each day grateful that God allowed him to fulfill his dream. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (Gar Creek), New Haven, where he was a deacon, elder, and served in many offices. Currently he attended Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where he enjoyed spending time at the church and could often be found helping with landscaping and other needful tasks. An exceptionally friendly man, he was always armed with a smile and helping hand for anyone who was in need. He was devoted to his wife of 30 years, Susan, who survives. He loved caring for his sons and in his retirement, they continued to be his focus.
He is also survived by his sons, Isaiah and Zac Hartmann; and siblings, Diane Hartmann, Ruth Hartmann, Eloise Hartmann, Robert Hartmann, Elaine (Richard) Hoff, and Ronald Hartmann. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, David Hartmann and Jean Berning. Funeral service is 11 am Friday, January 17, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery (Gar Creek), New Haven.
