Richard Lee "Dick" Linker, 67, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a member of Promise Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He retired after 38 years with Do-it-Best Corporation serving at various upper level management positions. He also worked as a sale associate part-time at Steinhofer and Associates. He also volunteered at Big Brothers and Big Sisters for many years. He loved to travel and enjoyed gardening and yard work. The avid sports fan could be found cheering on his favorite teams, Fort Wayne Komets, IU Basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts. Among his many loves were his wife, children, and two dogs, Cooper and Bailey.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, LuAnn (Messmann) Linker; mother, Edith Linker; children, Shanda May Linker and Shane Robert Linker both of Fort Wayne; sister, Sally (Lynn) Burry of Geneva; mother-in-law, Mardell Messmann of Huntertown; brothers-in-laws; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Henry Linker; and father-in-law, James Messmann.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Promise Lutheran Church, 7323 Schwartz Rd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Pastor Henry Graff officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial in Huntertown Cemetery, Huntertown. Preferred memorials are to the church or Allen County SPCA.
