Ray A. Hicks' Obituary
Ray A. Hicks, 83, of New Haven died, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne he was the son of the late Ralph and Adele Hicks. He attended New Haven United Methodist Church. The WWII Army veteran was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 296. He was building supervisor for Sears and Co. on Rudisill Blvd. for over 28 years. He retired in 1992 from Verizon after 11 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ethel; sons, Steve (Peg) Hicks and Dan (Sandy) Hicks both of Fort Wayne and Gary (Clara) Hicks of Columbia City; step-children, Richard (Kim) Yenser of Columbia City, Walter (Deb) Yenser of Fort Wayne, and Diane (Joe) Caston of Woodburn; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Hicks.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 E. Lincoln Hwy., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Rick Taylor officiating. Calling is also 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne with military funeral honors. Preferred memorials to New Haven United Methodist Church.
