I was in Mrs. Pond's class. I remember sitting on the carpeted steps to hear her read us a story. We also worked on "Dick and Jane" type worksheets! I got to renew my acquaintance with her years later when she was in the State House. I so enjoyed telling everyone that "my kindergarten teacher was making decisions for the state of Indiana"! I've been a Special Education teacher for almost 32 years and will retire soon. God Bless You, Mrs. Pond!

Phyllis was my friend and a legislator who was always willing to listen even if she disagreed. She will be missed.

I'm the youngest of the Ivandale Snyder family who was Mrs. Pond's principal for over 20 years. She was the first teacher for my brother Donald & all my children, Jordan, Austin & Katelin.
The one memory I have of her that was quite funny was one day during the summer, I believe, she brought into the school's gym, her 2 bulldogs! They slipped & skidded all over the floor.
Mrs. Pond has done SO MUCH for so many people & organizations. While my son Jordan was in track as a pole vaulter, she found the funds to update & purchase the pole pit. Also, she made a way to have the NHHS track to be resurfaced to help track runners from injury with recycled tires from BF Goodrich. She always had a smile on her face & always took time to speak with anyone. God bless you George & all of your family.
Some of us started out with you teaching us in your kindergarten class. You were a warm and caring person all of your life. Your gifts to us as students and friends and your service to the people in the community are deeply appreciated. You will be greatly missed.
My sister Marcia and I are the daughters of Grayson and Lois Mahin from Rushville. We want you to know that we extend our deepest sympathy on your loss. Mom and Dad are both gone now,but we have many good memories of them and your family.

The entire Elwood family considered Phyllis to be a great friend and neighbor and represented this area extremely well, she was a person who was kind in every thing she ever done for us, I really appreciated having Phyllis as my kindergarten teacher as well as many others I know. Also I always enjoyed going to her house for a visit or especially at Halloween. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Pond family and friends.
