Phyllis E. Buchan's Obituary
Phyllis E. Buchan, 82, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on August 27, 1930 in Dixon, IL she was the daughter of the late Henry and Maude Busker. Phyllis was a long time resident of Fort Wayne before moving to Cocoa Beach, FL, where she resided for several years before recently returning to Fort Wayne. She retired in 1982 from I&M as an Executive Secretary after 20 years of service. She was a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Canaveral, FL. During her many years as a volunteer, Phyllis mentored elementary school children in various capacities, was a telephone counselor at The Crisis Center in Cocoa, FL, and along with her pet dog "Misty" volunteered with Space Coast Therapy Dogs in Brevard County, FL.
She is survived by her children, George Wilson of Fort Wayne and Pam (Keith) Bohren of New Haven; grandson, Matthew (Alyson) Bohren of Woodburn; great grandchildren, Chase and Avery Bohren; step-daughter, Sue (Ron) Hammond of Leesburg, FL; siblings, Kathryn Heisey and Paul (Sally) Busker both of Melbourne, FL, Ruth (Larry) Dean of Versailles, MO, and Carole (Ronald) Cordum of Tiskilwa, IL; step-grandchildren, Rick (Jane) Hammond of Edina, MN, Mark Hammond of Scottsdale,. AZ, and Tammy Buchan of Orlando, FL; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell A. Buchan and grandson, Christopher G. Bryan both in 1995; and step-son, Russell E. Buchan.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior to service. Pastor Greg LeSieur officiating. Preferred memorials are to Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Canaveral, FL.
