Phillip E. "Gene" "Johnny" Johnson's Obituary
Phillip E. "Gene" "Johnny" Johnson, 83, of New Haven, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at home. Born in Kimmel, he was the son of the late Joseph and Polly Johnson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Haven. He served his country in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 330. He was a 32nd degree Mason of F&AM Lodge 0125, Bryan Ohio, and was a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne Shriners, and Fraternal Order of Eagles #725. He retired in 1988 from Norfolk Southern after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna; son, David Johnson; and sisters, Betty and Patricia Johnson both of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death his son, Dean Johnson; brothers, Ezra, LeRoy, Golden, Lemuel, and Dewey; and sisters, Dorothy Salsbury, Arizona Lapham, Rosemary Banning, and Emma Mae Johnson.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Pastor David Trimble officiating. Calling is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Heartland Hospice or First Baptist Church, New Haven.
