Phillip Michael Baker's Obituary
Phillip "Phil" Michael Baker, 68, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Phil was born on August 23, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Ralph and Linda (Arnold) Baker. Phil's personality could fill a room. To many, Phil was a reliable source of laughter, lifting the spirits of all around him with a one-liner here and there. Phil could carry a tune, too, bringing along his favorites Elvis and Frank to every moment in life. He may have not had a record deal (which you couldn't have convinced him of otherwise) but Phil would light up a karaoke bar. Phil did all that, and 'might I say, not in a shy way. Phil lived and loved fiercely. To those who were lucky enough to experience his love, they never had to question the resolve of his care and attention. Phil was selfless when it came to those he loved, putting them in the front of the line, every time. Phil gave himself to others, without asking for anything in return. Phil's presence as a foundation of support to so many will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Baker, to whom he was a 'loving teddy bear'; sons, Michael Baker; Jared (Lindsay) Baker; grandson, Jackson Baker; granddaughter, Charleigh Joy Baker; brother, Dan Baker; and sisters, Amy Davis and Annette Baker. He was also preceded in his death by his brother, Andy Baker.
Memorial service is 11 am Friday, March 28, 2025, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Phil's favorite charities: Doctors Without Borders or Boys Town. For online condolences please visit www.harperfuneralhome.com
