Paul D. Welty's Obituary
Paul D. Welty, 74, of New Haven, died Monday, January 9, 2012 at New Haven Care and Rehabilitation, New Haven. Born in Bluffton, Ohio he was the son of the late Hiram and Elizabeth Welty. The US Navy veteran was a member of American Legion Post 47, New Haven Moose Lodge 1480 where he was a charter member and served as the 1st Governor, and New Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles. He retired in 1993 from Navistar after 19 years and later retired in 2001 from Bentz Transportation Products after eight years.
He is survived by his son, Earl (Deonna) Welty of Fort Wayne; step grandchildren, Jason Young, Adam (Shannon) Young and Lanei Young; and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joan Welty in 2007; daughter, Anne Marie Welty; and brothers, Robert and Don Welty.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. The Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the funeral home with a 7:30 p.m. service by Moose Lodge 1480, New Haven. Burial is in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Dr. Stanley Wissman Stroke Center, Fort Wayne or Heartland Hospice.
