Patricia A. Rex's Obituary
Patricia A. Rex, 88, of Woodburn, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Mishawaka, IN on February 20. 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ross W. and Vera L. (Grodrian) Snyder. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1955. then Manchester College in 1959. She attended Colorado University (Summer 1962) and got her master's degree from IU in 1964. Pat was a schoolteacher for 32 years and taught roughly 1260 students. She taught elementary grades (K-4) at Village (1959-65). Perry, Ligonier (1965-67), Meadowbrook (1967-70), then Hoagland and Monroeville from 1971 until retiring in 1992. Pat married James L. Rex on April 10, 1965, and enjoyed 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. She grew up attending New Haven UMC and was most recently a member of Woodbum Missionary Church. She was a true servant of the Lord, always praying and encouraging others. She enjoyed playing clarinet in the high school, college and New Haven Alumni bands. She also enjoyed bowling, knitting, sewing and family vacations. Her last years were spent at Park Place Senior Living where she was a friend and inspiration to everyone.
She is survived by her sons, Troy (Mindy) Rex of Grabill and Todd (Lora) Rex of Leo; brother, Marshall (Anne) Snyder of Traverse City, Mich.; grandchildren, Tristan (Laura) Rex, Logan (Megan) Rex, Colby Rex, Mason Rex, Tatem Rex, Addison Rex; great-granddaughter Blair Rex; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jan Modesitt at Park Place.
Funeral service is 10:30 am Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, August 1, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials to Woodburn Missionary Church.
