Patricia (Couture) Ehle's Obituary
Patricia J. (Couture) Ehle, 89, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Laotto, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Hilda (Fischer) Couture. Patricia was a culinary arts instructor, demonstrator and was a cake decorator for 50 years. She was a home caregiver, working for Visiting Nurse and Hospice for five years, and as an independent caregiver for 15 years. She was a member of the Harlan Lions Club and the International Lions Adult exchange program. She was “Mom” to 150 international exchange students for more than 30 years and also hosted many adult Lions from throughout the world. Patricia also founded 2 Junior Lions clubs in Allen County. She was named one of the World’s Top Ten Lions International in 1997. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and as a minister to the homebound. Patricia enjoyed traveling, candy making, and especially loved to embroider quilts for her children and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Sherry) Ehle of Orlando, FL, Gerry (Darlene) Ehle of New Haven, Dennis Ehle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Michael Ehle of New Haven, James (Sandi) Ehle of Lantana, FL, Nancy (Carl) Louraine of Fort Wayne, Susan Shaheen of Longmont, CO, LeAnn (Steve) Cooper of Firestone, CO; sister, Catherine (Bernard) Wappes of Columbia City; 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ross L. Ehle in 2012; daughter, Teresa Ehle; siblings, Eugene Couture and Margaret Moothart; grandsons, Danny Cloud, and twins Justin and Jason Duey.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation hour prior. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a prayer vigil at 4:30 p.m. Lions Club service at 7 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to Masses, Harlan Lions Club and Turnstone of Fort Wayne.
